ven the most benign of the martial arts are contact sports. All were designed either to prevent or inflict pain. It is
therefore self-evident the injuries will occur, both in training and at competitions.
So before setting out to become a martial artist, you need to understand the risks and define your limitations. Only
then can you limit the extent of possible injury risk. Of course, you can never completely protect yourself: even the most innocent
Judo floor lock can dislocate a shoulder.
